Body Diversity Newfoundland and Labrador is dedicated to providing current and evidence-based information on promoting body diversity and a positive body image, as well as mental health and physical well-being. This website contains information for multiple target groups who all play a role in developing a body positive environment so that our community members can thrive.
We live in a society that promotes unrealistic and discriminatory ideals of what bodies should look like. This can also lead to weight bias and stigma, where people who are overweight or underweight, or whose bodies differ in any way what most people expect, may be subject to unfair treatment and judgments. Body Diversity NL celebrates all bodies and all differences, including those based on factors such as size, shape, weight, height, colour, physical abilities, cultural expression, as well as differences based on gender diversity and intersex diversity.
